Fiesta Mk 4 'horn'

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This is my first post and I hope that some members might have had some experience that would be helpful for me.

My Mk 4 Fiesta 1.25 Ghia has the most pathetic apology for a horn that I have ever come across; I was going to say 'heard' but that sounds a bit wrong. I made the mistake last year of buying a cheapo set of twin horns off eBay and had them fitted during a regular service (I used to do all this stuff myself before I had an accident a few years ago which means that I can no longer crawl about under the car). These proved to be only a minor improvement and one of them has now packed up leaving me in a worst position than when I started out!

Those who have needed to get at the Mk 4's horn will know that it lives just beneath the n/side headlamp with very little space to play about with so the replacements which I must now buy have to be small enough to fit, there being very little by way of an alternative location. I want to get it right this time and it's here that I'd really appreciate some help. I seem to have a couple of options - bearing in mind that finances are very limited at the moment - I either go to a breakers yard and salvage something - but from what? or, invest in a new pair. I've read some good reports on the Fiamm Freeway Blasters (Hi and Lo) and the Sebel Nautilus Compact air horn. Whilst the latter has an inbuilt compressor, it is only about 8" x 4" x 4" but even that might be a tight fit; the Fiamms are a little smaller I think and are not compressor driven.

Both of these seem to be principally for motorcycles but are also fitted to cars.

Can anybody give me some pointers here please?
