Featured Replies

Hi everyone !Removed! car is not being nice to me again either that or it not my week. Tonight park up the driveway like i normally do pull the handbrake up nice and gently like i've always done next thing i nearly give meself a black eye the handbrake cable snap and would not hold so has my drive is on a slope i had to drive somewere nice and level so had a little look underneath and without a tourch was inpossable so me thinking got one in the car well i did'nt

So i though no jack only a crapy one that i don't trust so i thought sod it phone the rac so cut the long story short it turned out to be the short section to the lever that has snapped so the rac guy done a temp repair.

Also my heat sheild was hanging off and that has snapped has well lol at the moment it's off the car do you think that would be ok to be off or do u think i need to put it back on for safety the rac fella said it's ok to leave off but i am unsure.

Cheers alan.

Your not having much luck at the moment are you alan :(

IMO, if ford could have saved money and didn't need the heatshield then it wouldn't be there to start with. I would try fix it back on if you can as it will reflect heat away from the floor of the car. Although i have no doubt that others may have ripped them off with no issues.

I agree with Stef, use some large washers to fix it back on.

I am really haveing a bad month i am very surprise i am not cracked up in a mental home by now :o

The heat sheield has snapped of and where the holes are on the shield it self they have broken so it gonna be a case of makeing new holes or something if not scrap yard for another one. RAC guy said i would be ok without it on but i am unsure has you said it's there for a reason and i am gonna do my best to get it on what a !Removed! day i've had today looking for a cable and fords are a rip off they wanted £25 for a little bit of cable went to my local motor factors £7.20 so at least someone on my side

Gonna do me best it feels werid without it on because i normally hear it flap about when i drive

a few heatshields i have repaired i have used a large holesaw (50mm or there abouts) and used thin aluminium sheet(1.5mm) as a large repair washer to grab the good area of heatshield.

the big problem with heatshields is they are made of aluminium and the studs/nuts they are mounted with are made from steel, which only ends up with a heatshield that will fall off at some point.
