Changing Spark Plugs

How do you Change spark plugs in a 1.4 53 plate black fiesta

How do you Change spark plugs in a 1.4 53 plate black fiesta

You'll need a Socket wrench, an extension and a plug socket attachment for a standard socket set, these can be picked up at any hardware/car shop.

Can't find a picture of the engine bay, however, to hazzard a guess...

There should be 4 rubber plugs near the back of the engine block. these plugs will have ignition wires coming out that join up nearby.

Working left to right, Pull the first waterproof rubber plug out, down that small chamber is the first spark plug, simply undo it like a bolt with the plug socket. Once loose it will pull out and be stuck inside the socket. Replace the new one, and replace the rubber ignition plug. Then repeat 3 times.

Be very careful not to mix up the ignition leads with the spark plugs, put them in the wrong way and you'll change the firing sequence of your engine, causing it to not start. You should be okay if you do them one at a time, but maybe take a photo or diagram before starting.

HTH

When refitting them, screw them in by hand, dont use your ratchet or wrench as they can be quite easily cross threaded. I normally put a smear of copper grease on the threads to help removing them in the future.
