Modifying My Fiesta?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I really love my MK5 Fiesta. It's completely standard with the original alloys, everything on the car is how it is supposed to be.

But lately, mostly after owning it for a couple of weeks and all my mates have seen it, they keep telling me to put on 19' alloys, side skirts, a better spoiler, tint the windows, fit this, colour code that. Someone even told me to put in the 1.6 engine from the MK5 Zetec S.

Is there something wrong with me wanting to keep it standard? I love the standard alloys and I even love the standard look down to the smallest detail. Don't get me wrong, I do love modified cars if they're tasteful. But I can't see anything on my Fiesta that I could improve on...

Dan

Well leave it as it is. They can modify their cars. Don't let them tempt you to modify yours if you don't want to

Not to mention the increase in insurance if you declare the mods you have listed.

And I would imagine that replacing the engine would make it very difficult to get insurance, especially if you are a young driver.

Yeah that's what I thought too, at the end of the day I'm only 23 and would really struggle insurance wise if I was to put a 1.6 engine in, obviously it would need declaring to the DVLA, heck it would probably cost more than just buying a Zetec S with the 1.6 engine already. What's the insurance gonna think if I put in a larger engine.

Thing is my Sister's boyfriend drives a MK5 Zetec S which he's done loads to, the car is far from standard and has been lowered, tuned exhaust, side skirts, tinted windows etc. Looks nice but for me is too chavy to be honest, like I said I love tastefully modified cars and I know people have their own opinions on what looks good, but to me the car is too shouty, screaming to the police 'Stop me' :D

Standard all the way for me B)
