Timing Belt Broken

Featured Replies

Hey,

yesterday the timing belt was broken in my fiesta. :( It ran out only ~10 000 km. Now she is waiting in the car servise for the "healing" tomorrow :( Any ideas why it happened so early?

which engine is it?

did the belt itself snap or did the tensioner fail? i find it difficult to believe a belt delaminating after only 6000 miles, unless it was a defective part, in which case that's your answer

alternatively it could be that the belt wasn't seated correctly on one of the pulleys

1.4 TDCi

the belt snaped itself

:(

has to be a faulty part, so will be covered by warranty.

its likely that the pistons hit the valves, so its gonna be a whole new top-end. big job.
