Focus Zetec 1.8 Petrol 1998. Oil Filler Cap refuses to come off. Handbook says turn in direction of arrows and lift, not an easy operation, it turns, clicks but does not come off. Anybody ever had this? Any idea how to get it off apart from forcing it?

    youre turning it the wrong way if its clicking you need to turn the other directionyou dont lift either it simply unscrews

    Thank you for your assistance. I have got the cap off, the handbook says turn in the direction of arrows and lift to remove cap. It does remove turning anti-clockwise but does not turn easily like all the other oil filler caps I have come across and I did not wish to force it off without finding out precisely which way to turn it and without having a new one to hand in case I damaged it removing it.
