By dad was just talking to his police mechanic friend who said plates any shorter than standard length are illegal, and if you are pulled over more than 3 times because of them they may be taken off you. :-s God dammit :-(

Slightly unrelated 2011fiesta but someone appears to be selling parts of your car on eBay :o

yes and no - depends on the question your Dad asked

...the dvla site information has - 'top, bottom and side margins - minimum 11 millimetres' and if you had a normal 7 digit number you wouldn't be able to make the plate any smaller.

I believe as long as your plate has the legal font correctly spaced without any ghosting, black screws changing the look etc you will be ok. Speed cameras and anpr equipment will still read your plate and that's what the police regard important. I must have travelled 1000's of miles around the midlands and beyond and not had a problem. But if you're worried then stick with the 'full sized' item :)

When I buy the licence number I think I'll try plates like yours as I can't see what the purpose of extra unused plate area is if the margins are there around the characters. If I get stopped then I'll buy full sized plates. Only £20 quid or something.

Thanks again. Just needed reassuring lol
