Oil Levels

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed that their oil levels rise instead of dropping my zetec s tdci its oil levels rise so its above the maximum mark i was told that too much oil in the system can cause oil leaks by over pressurising the sump this may be the case as my sump gasket looks like its failing again after being changed by the dealers last year any info would be great

Could be unburnt diesel getting past the rings which would appear to increase your oil level and thin it out causing leaks.

How many miles has it done, difficult to start or any other engine symptoms ?

its only done 26,ooo its booked into the dealers on wednesday so i will see what they say more than likely try to fob me off saying that its normal

if fords try and fob you off with the old "its normal" trick:

1. get their service manager to write on the inspection report what symptoms you reported and their findings

2. insist they sign it first before you

3. then get a photocopy of it *after* both of you have signed it

then if it turns out to be something more serious later, and they say "you shoulda brought it in earlier", hand them the copy and threaten trading standards. then watch them fix it for good - for free! :)
