Auto-Dimming Mirror

Featured Replies

I don't do a great deal of night driving but although my Titanium is supposed to have an auto-dimming mirror I've never noticed it doing anything. Is the dimming a sudden transition from undipped to dipped or is it a gradual increase in tint like you get with photochromic spectacle lenses? Is there a sensor somewhere that I can shine a bright torch at in order to check functioning?

the sensors are little holes you will see on the front of the mirror

i think the fiesta is like the focus whereas the reflection turns dark green

If some one is behind you do you get any glear from thier lights ?

I have never really seen mine switch over but i know head lights don't cause me any problems , get a torch and try it out

Quick way to find out if it's working is to just have the dash light on. It will turn a really dark black/green colour. Takes about 3-4 seconds to change. After waiting the 3-4 seconds, place your hand in front of the mirror, if you can't see it very well - then the mirror is working.

Unlike a 'manual' dipping mirror there is no movement by the mirror its self, but you should notice the car lights behind you have a blue/green tint to them.

Now I know what to look for I see that it does indeed work OK. It's rather like my photochromic specs, takes a few seconds to dim. Thanks everyone!
