Could You Get Out Of A Deadlocked Car With A Flat Battery?

Featured Replies

An odd question I know, but if someone were to be in a Fiesta with the doors deadlocked, no manual windows and a flat battery, would it be possible to get out? The handbook says not to ever do this, presumably for this reason, but if it did would the only way out be to break a window?

ps, no I haven't locked anyone in my car .

Is someone telling porkies? ;)

most modern systems are positive fed,

meaning they need a powe supply to keep them dead locked,

so if the power is taken away so is the dead lock feature, ;)

Hi

If that is true that the locks are positive fed then if someone cuts the power lead on your car they can just open the doors and take whatever they want and leave

Jamie

It'll just be the deadlock feature that needs a positive feed, not the central locking...

I read somewhere before on a certain type of car, if you kick it hard in the right place it opens all the doors (As its meant to replicate an accident where the locks pop open to let you get out)

Don't know if it's 100% true, think it was on a BMW?

i had heard that too, but i thought mercedes... I would have thought youd have to kick it damn hard... pretty poor system if not!
