Esp Off?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Quick question, started my car this morning and on the main centre screen i got a message simply saying "ESP Off" no idea why or what i could of done to do this, anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Marc

Hi,

I've read all of the posts here to date & believe I have the answer - mine occasionally does this too, but only if the car hasn't been used for over a week or so.

If the battery's a bit low on charge, the car PCM (ECU) automatically shuts down non-essential (power consuming) functions - such as ESP & also occasionally on mine the ABS too - before the engine starts & for a few seconds afterwards. After the engine starts, when I get the "ESP is Off" message the ESP warning light (& occasionally the ABS light too) stays on for a little longer than usual, then whichever light(s) have been on, go out.

If I use the car more frequently, or trickle charge the battery when the car isn't used, I don't have this issue at all.

I know that I haven't turned my ESP off when this happens because my car - a Titanium - doesn't have an "ESP Off" button. I also checked that the ESP was still working (in a safe location!!) on the first occasion that this happened & I managed to make it "cut in" when necessary - confirmed by the warning light flashing at the appropriate "moment of fun".

So the answer, as far as I'm aware, is "it's supposed to do that"

Hello I Just Need Advice On ESP System. I Have A Ford Fiesta 2010 1.2 Zetec. I Started My Car In The Morning Then A Message Came Up On The Front Display Stating 'ESP Off'. Is This Normal For Ford Fiesta And How Can I Switch It Back On. I Want This To Be On At All Times. Also I Was Driving On A Bad Road And The Skid Symbol Came On For Like Half A Second, Is This Ok ? Thanks.
