Boot 12V Wiring Access.. Poor Mw Reception

Featured Replies

hi guys ,

can you help me with a couple of queries on my 55 plate 1.6tdci sport

is there any wiring for a 12v socket in the boot as i need to run my cool box from there in the summer .

also the mw reception is very poor... is ther any reason for this or a cure ?

many thanks

aussiegit

theres no 12v wiring in the boot that im aware of having rumaged about unless im mistaken i think a lot of manufacturers stopped it. havin looked quickly theres no obvious place to locate it

MW reception is always poor in the UK, use FM if you can.

i know there is wiring in the boot of my mk2.5 focus which i was informed is for a 12v socket... there may be one in your model... it is located to the right hand side of the boot under the carpet... there are pictures floating around on the forum on the twin/dual reverse light guide.... again this refers to the facelift model but i may help you locate yours if you have one!! hope this helps

I'm sure Lenny will be here soon to advise you of how to do it!

You mean the LED Oracle? ;)

On the Mk2.5 there is an Orange wire wrapped up off side behind the boot panel leading to the fog light wiring , i would imagine it will be there for the mk2 as well

lol sorry mate,

Dave at Auto star is selling a very afordable kit that can be used in the boot mate,

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27ba8d09b7

you wont need the positive feed from the kit, you can use the orange plug that is currently in your car, then using the negative feed from the kit, push it in to the casing of the orange plug, and then plug it in to the 12v socket, the power is already flowing to the cable in the boot, so theirs nothing else needed.

except for drillimg the hole and the ring terminal on the end of the negative feed will fit on the screw for the panel like a washer on a bolt. and then the connection is complete,

all for less than £10 people, B)

:o £73.45!!!

ford dont make the kit anymore as far as i am aware mate,

i bought it on ebay in an auction,

think it was £25 the winning bid, and the seller said they were end of stock not to be replaced, ford stopped selling the kit,

but you can purchase a 12v genuine ford socket on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4cff47a32c

and then make up an earth feed yourself, but that kit auto star are selling is very compeditive,

You mean the LED Oracle? ;)

Lmao  Led all the way.

lol thats a crazy price for the kit mate,

their is another one of these orange plugs at the back of the heater controls on the mk2.5 models

it is used on the mk2 dash for the 12v socket in the bottom centre of the dash, but its not used on the mk2.5 because the dash set up is different,

so if you or anyone was thinking of permanently fitting their sat nav charger in to the dash,

they just need to purchase the auto star kit and plug the charger in to it, and leave it all behind the dash under the stereo,

perfect if you have the cubby hole on the top of the dash too,

fit a 12v socket inside it, and store your charger in ther too.

You gotta love it the magnetic poles are meant to shift and long overdue weakening the earths magnetic field meaning we get bombarded with solar radiation destroying all satelites power grids no water no electric emergency services tv radio phones cars and they worry about a bloomin light sounds like a conservative lol

lol i totally agree mate, i just pulled the image from a google search

i thought it would go well with the comment clive made about me changing all my bulbs to 6000k led lol

you have too much l.e.d in youre pencils lol

You can take a horse to water but a pencil must be L.E.D.

Now we're getting silly, L.E.D astray?

well speaking of leds my strips should be here tomorow so rear footwell led time to go with the front.after staring for long enough im gonna tap into the front loom from behind the driver kickplate run the wires under the carpet up through the hole under each seat and attatch the strips to the metal bar on the rear of the seat with extra cable so the seat can be moved all the way forward and back just like the seat sensor cable, that way its safe and you cant see the strip just the red light

look foward to seeing the results on the rear footwells mate,

Just thinking - will this socket fit directly to the 12v feed plug or does the earth have to be run seperately? -

http://www.ebay.co.u...d=p5197.c0.m619

the 12v socket in the link is a very old model mate,

but once the pins at the rear are in a T formation then the Orange plug will fit on to it, and i think 90% of any 12v socket has the pins in a T shape at the rear.

but you do need to run an earth feed as the orange plug just has the positive at the momment,
