Ice Problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Ist post on site.

Recently bought a 57plate, 2.0tdci zetec. My only problem so far, is with the Sony head unit. It won't play cds. Get some sound through front right speaker, naff all from the others. When using radio, have no problem at all.

Any ideas please.

does your ice have a usb input?

if so apparently there is an update that you can do yourself, not saying this will work.

You could try putting a CD head cleaner through it.

Thanks Greg & btmaldon.

My unit is a sony 2nd generation, single, not 6cd.

It only has an aux in, 3.5mm jackplug in glove box.

I have tried a cd head cleaner, but hasn't improved the prob.

What's involved to remove the head unit? Looks like the centre console & other various parts of the dash have to come out?

Has anyone fitted a dvd/cd/sat nav unit, like the ones to be found on ebay?

Hi, if the radio is this type then you need the removal keys.

Like these -

They slide in to the slots where i have marked the picture with arrows. (the keys go in with the flattened side of the rings facing outwards. once locked in place the keys can only be removed once the radio is out)

The fascia will then unscrew via 2 screws inside the radio recess which will be very obvious and then pull forward to release some clips.

If The radio is like this -

You unclip the fascia from around the radio and undo the four screws on the corners of the radio.

I've not had a problem with my Ford radio, but on other cars I've had issues with dirty CD lens, I have found a quick blast with a high-pressure air line down the disc slot (like the sort you used to find on petrol forecourts before the newer automatic systems were installed) would clear debirs from the CD lens and have my system working again fine.
