Hi,

First time I've joined a forum like this and the main reason is to try and get some answers to a problem I'm having with my 59 plate Focus 1.6 Sport.

About a year ago I was driving along at a modest speed (70mph ish) and the car felt as though it was being buffeted by the wind. Then a huge red warning triangle came up on the dash with the words - Engine Malfunction. I stopped, switched off engine, phoned the AA who duly came out plugged in the laptop and couldn't find anything wrong. They followed me home and I had no further problem.

Next day took car to Ford main dealer, they checked and couldn't find anything wrong. One week later it happened again, loss of power but then picked up again. Back to Ford who said that unless the engine warning light comes on and generates a code there is nothing they can do, it's probably just a glitch!!!!!!

Had no further problems until last Saturday when I had the same misfiring symptoms but no warning light this time. I have done some research and I'm convinced (and I'm no mechanic) that the problem is with the EGR.

The problem is how can I convince Ford that there is a problem?

I would welcome your views.
