ranger 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi all newbie here,

I have a 2008 ranger thunder,When i select 4x4 the rear diff lock engages in 4wd high & low & a light shows on the dash for this,

Can this diff lock be switched off?It will only go off when i go back into 2wd,

Is this working ok or should i be able to select the diff lock if ineed it

regards black ice

Hi black ice

Are you referring to the light on the dash and switch with the label RFW ?

If so this is indicating that the freewheel hubs on the front are engaged.

You will only be able to operate the switch (light going out and disengaging the hubs) when the vehicle is back

in 2wd.

Freewheel hubs save wear and tear on front drive components and save a bit of fuel.

As far as i'm aware Rangers don't come with a diff lock but an LSD in the rear

Hope that helps
