Ford Rds 6000 Cd Player Crackling On M Wave

Featured Replies

hi my cd player started to crackle after 10 mins of being on medium wave, other stations i,e fm are fine cd player fine ?

so i went out and bouht another one was told it works great ( and it does ) however the same thing is now happening after listening to medium wave for 10 mins it also has the same problemand starts to crackle ?

i cant see 2 units having the same issue , is it coinsidentale or is there something else causing the fault what do you think ??

The aerial would have been my first port of call.

A car puts out a lot of RF interference that is picked up by the radio as crackling noises.

Cars used to an fitted as standard with filters on the HT leads to combat this, not sure if it's the case now.

You could try fitting ferrite cores around the aerial cable just before it plugs into the radio and see if that helps.

If my old radio knowledge serves me, I believe it's the aerial cable not the bit sticking up on the roof that is the AM/MW that receives that range of signal on cars.
