my focus is a 51 plate and overnight has developed a bad smell indside the car the pollen filter was recentley changed and there are no water leaks into the car i dont what else to check any body got any thoughts thanks

Hi, you might need to clean your air vents as bacteria will growing in them, that is quite normal. There are several products on the market to perform this with easy to follow instructions, try here for one http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_224996_langId_-1_categoryId_165632 although I can't endorse it as I've not had to do this myself because I rely upon the dealership to do it for me.

Aircon units produce a lot of moisture and when this goes stagnant the smell is not pleasant.

A good aircon cleaning bomb is very effective.

Stick it in the car, switch on the air, set off the can and retire to allow it to do the job.

The Halfrauds one is about £12, which I have used in the past. Very effective.

Then stumbled upon Dettol Disinfectant spray at Te£co£, twice as much for a quarter of the price. Just need to turn recirc on, and spray plenty into front footwells, aiming up under dash. Works a treat.

thanks for the advice i will try to clean the air vents although the car doesnt have air con and the smell does not get worse when heater is on the smell is there only initially after getting in car but isuppose nose gets used to it thanks all
