Help Please! How Do I Change The Heater Resistor On My Petrol Mk7?

I've been reading various posts and it would seem that my resistor needs replacing for my heating. My blowers in the car only come on when turned up fully. Is this something I could replace myself or must I take it to the garage. I would be really grateful for some help.
