Got An Error On Your Car?

Featured Replies

Hi newbie here.

I own a 2016 Smax 2.0 Tdci Titanium X sport. Recently my wife told me that she’s been getting diagnostic messages which are , Check Park pilot,Esc service required, Hill start unavailable.

We booked the car into our local Ford dealer and they informed me that after investigation and code reading that they suspect that it needs a replacement EGR valve at the cost of about £720 . My question is has anyone else had a similar problem and does this sound correct?

Hi Steve, The code reader you provided seems like it should work fine, but before purchase, ask the seller for written confirmation, but I really see no problem with it.In regards to reading old code

I'd love to know the logic behind this.  At first glance you wouldn't put the two together.  No wonder it's so hard to be a home mechanic these days.  I'd be tempted to unplug it and see if the errors remain.

I've got a 2019 Fiesta and noticed that the cooling fan was running nearly all the time. I took it the Ford dealership where I got it from and the said it was because the air con was on and I said it wasn't and it was coming on after only after a short journey. So it's booked in to be looked at. The engine seems to be running very hot and coolant is where it should be. Plus stop/start rarely works. Last week I sold my 2008 Focus which had done 110000 miles and only time it went to the garage was for a service. I wish now I kept my focus and got rid of this rechid Fiesta.

My radio has now decided to change to AM by its self the brakes have been very spongy since I had it and the handbrake comes up under my armpit before it holds. Worst car I had the misfortune to own and now going to look for another car not Ford.

My car now makes a terrible noise when I start it. It sounds like a bag of nails. I'm considering scrapping it as to many faults and it doesn't have any warranty.

Looking for some help if possible. 2013 fiesta titanium 1.4tdci. My stereo started blasting static through the speakers, even when the stereo was off, at full volume randomly then got worse and worse. It sounded like 10,000v arc of electricity was sparking in an old time movie scene. Now the whole streo unit has packed in - no problem I really don't use it. Now 6 weeks later I have an EML come on ,limp mode and 5 seconds later car cuts out - likely not related I hope.

I have a basic code reader but its not showing  any error code even when the car displays 'engine malfunction '. Switch car off and start again, all is well for 5 minutes until it happens again. Im handy with a spanner so I'm looking for OBD 2 reader recommendations that might help. I have a £40 Foxwell unit- its no help at all really. It displays some live data but I cant see anything untoward. After car cuts out I get, 'auto start/stop manual start required' message.

Any thoughts? More so about the EML.

Hey,

Can anyone help me 😞 my car has been playing up on/off since I bought in March 2020. Engine warning light comes on, car then goes limp and or stalls when I try to drive in 1st gear. Replaced fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator. Had it in with a diesel specialist (its 2010 reg 1.6 diesel 80K miles) the fault codes came up as fuel pressure too low. Diesel guy thought it was the computer because the car itself nothing is wrong?? So took it to ford garage as per advice and guess what... they cant find anything wrong with it 😭 I'm so sick of paying for diagnostics and then my car still playing up. The diesel guy said a fault was showing saying 4 x injectors open circuit? What does that mean? Ford didnt mention anything just that they csnt find anything wrong with it.

I  check my oil and water levels on my 2019 Fiesta weekly and have noticed the oil level is going up not down. It's not been running right for a while and the engine is still overheating.

Today on my 2019 Fiesta it is difficult to get into reverse gear and the gearbox makes a clonking noise the car is out of warranty  and I do not want a big bill for repairs as costing a lot of money as the tyres perish really quick and had to replace some.

As soon as you turn the ignition on and notice the check engine light is on, you know that something isn’t right.

What does it mean when the check engine light is on?

The computer scanner will provide your vehicle with an error code to identify the issue. It might not be a big deal, like a loose gas cap, but there are times when it could be something major, like a faulty oxygen sensor or catalytic converter. Those types of repairs are costly.
