    Other than looks, is there any benefits to putting a cover on, ie does it quieten the sound of the engine?

    It probably refines the top end slightly, it improves the appearance too.

    i guess the big question is are the benefits worth the cost, and that’s a personal one.

    Can't say I've noticed sound reduction, as mentioned on other threads I put one on as I park near trees and it does keep leaf etc debris off the top of the engine. Does look a bit neater, though.

    In my experience it is all about looks, which are significantly improved. I've not noticed any appreciable difference in sound. Details of how many of us fitted ours are here-
