Is My Turbo Starting To Fail

Featured Replies

Hello, just joined and seems some really useful advice for focus owners.

Had the turbo intercooler pipe blow off the bottom of the air filter housing in the week. AA guy said lots of issues with focus turbos, best he did not comment, reconnected pipe and said I need to get it checked out. Took a picture in side the turbo can any one say if any thing looks odd please?

Many thanks

Thats a great image mate, I might try and inspect mine tomorrow. Now I'm no expert on turbos, but to me that looks like its in good nick. All of the veins look clean and intact and the air inlet pipe looks clean. Are you experiencing any issues with your car since the pipe came off? it may have just been an insecure jubilee clip.

Thanks gwengo

I had been getting a slight/moderate booming sound at top of rev range before changing gear and when cruising in 3, 4 or 5 gear. I thought my exhaust needed looking at

The noise is mostly gone, now but I hear the odd trace.

Think i know this sound. Isnt it just turbo spinning at max? More like a humm?
