Bought a car and previous MOT advisary was about the exhaust,had a look underneath and the center box has a hole in it,although its not blowing and drives ok,was told these had 2 "skins".Got the car at a good price and a center box doesnt cost much,just wondered how long it had left at that condition?

    As long a piece of string sorry, My bro in laws car had an advisory for a rusty backbox two years on the trot the third year no advisory 3 weeks later it started blowing lol go figure?

    the box has a drain hole in it its not a hole in the exhaust so i wouldnt worry about it

    No,trust me its a hole,the hanging metal is still there where it had covered it.

    Ive had a box that had a hole for 2 years (sounded mint on a 1.1 haha ) it eventually grew and in the end split and my back box dropped off(which made it sound better haha

    Just make sure that its secure so that if it does drop then it won't be left in the path of the car behind you
