Central Locking Problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys ive recently bought a 2002 ford focus but appears the central locking does not work. Its a 3 door

If i unlock a door with the key manually the interior light will light up, which shows the key switch works

Ive also checked and changed fuse 63 (even tho it wasnt blown)

if i sit in the car and lock a door using the interior door lock switch on the door, i hear 2 clicks comig from the central locking module near the drivers foot pedals. I have even bought a new module but still have the same fault. I have the 3 button remote key but no buttons do anything :-(

please can someone help?

the remote may need reprogrammed switch from 0 to 2 on the ignition quickly 4 times till a beeps heard then press the remote button another beep should be heard now switch ignition on then off and remote should work if the remote doesnt give a beep it could be a faulty remote unit or faulty buttons on it or obviously a dead battery inside

Ok thanx for your help

I would imagine that the central locking would work with the key even if the remote hasnt been programmed?

very true didnt read that bit there are connectors under the glovebox in the pass footwell cant miss them make sure thay are connected fully

Yes they are as i have even fitted a new module

By changing the module, you would have not programmed the keys the the module. If when you are standing outside the car. Hiding the key , lock the doors if all the doors lock then the module is fine. The are actually 2 unit 1 that is just central locking and another with remote. Make sure you have the correct unit. Simple way is to see that all the cables to the box are attached and none taped up. The module does sometimes stop working. To sort it out on a mk2 you normally use obd2 to reset it.
