Are These Rims Prone To Buckling ?

Featured Replies

Having read a lot about buckled alloys, I was wondering if the 17" rims I've got on my 2013 Fiesta Ecoboost Zetec S are prone to buckle as well.

I believe it's the same 17" rims you could get for the mk7 Fiesta.

Does someone know ? (See attached photo)

I'm sure they have changed the alloys for the facelift, so they might not be as bad.

Here is the wheels on my zetec s 1.0 with 17" wheels

Nope dont think theese ones are as bad... They changed the compound of the alloys

Thanks a lot both of you, you calmed my nerves a lot :)

Hi, personally I wouldn't panic by what you read in a forum unless it has been independently verified by a engineer...

I wouldn't panic either. I have the old alloys and haven't buckled any yet 'touch wood'. Been over some pretty bad potholes etc too

The snowflake alloys aren't even an option on the mk7.5 ? how have you ended up getting those with it ?

Yeah now that I actually pay attention I realise its the pre facelift wheels lol! They are not as bad for buckling..the likes of the 16" & 15" alloys are worse for it...why has It got the snow flake wheels on it though? :o

I know I don't know how NQbbe has got them on a new mk7.5 ?

I am getting the17" alloys and I have been flapping about the buckling as well.

My nerves have been calmed.

Ready frums as we can scare you

Unless he has put them on himself?

Yeah that's what I thought (the snowflake alloy being for an older model).

I just asked my dealer for a catalogue of rims that would fit the car, and choose the snowflake ones because I liked those the most.

Then I kept the original 16" as well, and had the dealer fit winter tires on them.

So the dealer did all the work, and delivered the car with the 17" snowflake rims with summer tires, and the original 16" rims with winter tires as well.

This is a pretty common way to order cars in Denmark, so maybe it's just different from country to country ? (I'm from Denmark, in case you wonder why that country was brought up)

Yes the snowflake alloys (pictured in your first post) are very prone to buckling (happened to 3 of mine)

Not happy i have to wait till Tuesday lunchtime......will get pics posted once I get it........
