Hi Guys/Girls.

Today i was driving my Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI Zetec 2003 and the temperature was rising over 90 and half way to overheating :(

My heating on my car now onlys goes slightly warm when i put the heat on full! The fan kicks in i'm asumming because of the temperature i've checked the oil and thats fine and i havent lost any coolant does anyone have any ideas on this?

Pleasseee help!

It could be caused by a number of things and without inspection it's hard to say. Some possibilities are blocked radiator/pipe work, stuck thermostat or failed water pump.

Possible water pump or thermostat stuck shut, is the radiator equally hot top to bottom and hoses ect. I take it you havnt drained the water recently and refilled.

The water has been drained and replaced recently i did this when i serviced the car i checked the pipe from top of rad and bottom and the top is quite hotter then the bottom one..

given the bottom is where the cooler coolant comes from thats how it should be it sounds like an airlock when you refilled the system start the car and get teh engine up to temp and have the heater on max hot and let it idle through the air bubble will usually clear

Thanks alot guys! Think what im gonna do is everything you've all said :) Thanks again

Squeeze the pipes also to try to push air out whilst running with heaters on hot as Artscot says, when car is at full temp and fan cuts in and out ( you might have to pick revs up to 2000-2500 for 5 or so minutes) your pipes and radiator temp should be nearly a uniform temp. its a bit in and out of car revs and squeeze/flex pipes but when temp sits right and fan cuts in then out air is normally out of there
