Continual Front Brake Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have a 59 plate 1.4 Fiesta and shortly after buying it the car developed wheel wobble & a strang ticking noise when braking at fairly low speed. The Ford dealer did not want to know, telling me that it was caused by heat generated by hard braking and warping the disc. Hard braking is something I have never done. The problem was sorted by my local garage but it returned after only a few months. The local garage carried out the repair under warranty. He is a star!

Unfortunately the wobble has returned after about three or four months.

Could anyone tell me if this is a common fault with this model? Prior to buying this car I had an 05 plate Focus & never had a problem.

When did you buy the car, and how soon after did you take the car back to them? if this was in the last six months, and given that you have already advised them of the fault, they should honour the warranty that you got with the car (minimum 6 months)

As the hand brake works on the rear drums, how does 'hand braking' generate heat & warp the front discs?

It says HARD BRAKING, not hand braking lol.

Doh......lol
