Engine Stutter

Featured Replies

Hi I have seem to have a problem develop after a tip to Bounemouth.

Basically I have a Focus Zetec 59plate 77k miles, when my car sits idle in gear or not the engine stutters a little and it shows on the rev meter as it drops blow normal idle point the creeps back up it never cuts out.

If I turn the Air Con on the I don't have the problem, my last service was on 59K miles and have been meaning to get it serviced just never have time.

My brother said it seems the Accelerator pedal or cable may be slack, during service they should sort it out so its sharp.

Is this true? And ideas people???

Any suggestions would be great!!

Cheers

Could well just need its service, the air filter will have done at least 18K so could be quite blocked by now.

Also I'm pretty sure your Focus would use fly-by-wire for the throttle, so there is no cable that can be slack. It is all electronic.

My advice would be to get it serviced and go from there.

I believe that the pedal is a fly by wire, so it may be but is unlikely!

It sounds more like an ICV issue...

i think cabled throttles are long gone :P

Oops thanks any idea how much it is to replace/fix?? Cheers

You could remove it and clean it, which is a good place to start, however, I am not personally sure I know where it is on the 2.5 Focus, so one of the other guys may be able to help,

Although not the same MK of Focus, this may be of some help? http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/4651-locating-and-clean-idle-control-valve/
