How Do I Make Sure My Replacement Stereo Is Compatible With My Controls And Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi. My CD player has packed up in my 2005 focus. When I am looking at 3rd party replacements how do I make sure it will work with my Bluetooth and steering column controls? Also how do i get the bezel to plug the gap? Sorry for being so green. The most I have done before is an oil change and wheel!

You're hard pressed to get one thay will work with a standard Ford bluetooth system if at all.

Best option is one with bluetooth integrated and unplug the OEM one.

Concerning controls, as long as you buy a loom adaptor designed for a Ford and your replacement radio make you can get cables with a controller interface included.

If you sesrch through recent posts, I priced up and listed necesssry parts for someone wishing to fit a single din Kenwood unit.

May be useful reading for you.

Why not just replace it with another factory stereo? Then you know everything will work perfectly.

You might want to look at this one, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-CD-6000-In-Perfect-Working-Order-Wirh-Code-/321199552691?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item4ac8fc38b3

Looks cheap too, cheaper than buying a stereo and fascia.

If you do want an aftermarket one, you need to decide whether you are going for single or double din stereo before getting a fascia, both types of fascia are on ebay for about £20-30.

When i say i want it to work with the bluetooth I mean the handsfree kit. Is this still a problem?

The unit i am replacing is a Sony 6 disc changer (the height or technology when i got it lol) plus i would now like the option of USB and MP3.

I had a quick look on amazon at a sony CDX-GT450U as an option

Thanks again for your advice

If the bluetooth is aftermarket like a Parrot system then you should be ok as most are purely piggybacked onto the loom for the speakers and just need a mute setting on the radio .

If you have the factory fitted Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system you will lose its complete functionality when an aftermarket radio is fitted. The Original MK2 Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system only works with an original sqaure or oval shaped Ford radio which is produced before 08-2008. After 08-2008 the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system and radio's are changed. Radio's which are produced after 08-2008 do not support the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system (and older radio's do not support the newer system).

Hi

im not much use with regard to your BT problems, but for fitting an aftermarket head unit without the extra BT this is what you'd need

(link to where Stoney helped me out!)

anything which says specific to Kenwood just change for what ever unit that you're after
