Clutch Problems ?

Featured Replies

while waiting for the other half to get out of work the other day I notice that when the car is in neutral and clutch pedal is released the clutch makes a wearing noise is this normal of should I nip down to my local ford dealer and get them to take a look at it. Thanks

That would be the clutch release bearing making a noise. It shouldn't do that but many cars do. It is a sign of wear but by no means indicates imminent failure. Some cars make that noise most of their lives. Normally caused by people who sit at junctions or traffic lights with the car in gear with the clutch down for long periods instead of putting into neutral with the handbrake on.

My wife is the worst for this. She also holds the car on slight hills with the clutch rather than use the handbrake, therefore she is banned from using my car until she learns to drive properly.

sounds about rite because that what I do

do you think that with my car still being covered by warranty from ford that they will sort it ?

I doubt it as it could just be classed as wear and tear. No harm in trying though.
