Ignition Delay Focus Tdci 04 Plate

Hi,

I have an 04 plate Focus TDCI which has developed an intermittent ignition problem where there is a delay between turning the key and the engine turning over. It ranges from a 1 second to approx 10 second delay and twice now it has failed to turn over at all. I cannot hear any sounds during the delay ad it doesn't seem to be affected by warm, cold or wet weather. I always turn the key part way so the dash lights come on as then wait for the coils to warm before turning the key the rest if the way.

If anyone has any suggestions of what might be causing the problem and any solutions I'd be very grateful!
