Hello and welcome to the forum,

That's pretty bad, I can see the grass through the floor.

The biggest issue being, is it worth repairing

cheers for the welcome!

I am quite confident with many aspects of welding, therefor if it were mine or a mates then I would probably tackle it. Cutting out the rotten bits with a plasma cutter. Then using sheet steel, make repair sections and weld them in and paint the repaired area.

What a garage or welder would charge I fear might be more than the car is worth. That will be a few hours worth of work. Also it's hard to say but from your description and picture it's not good.

Without any welding equipment or experience I would leave it to someone who does - sorry to sound blunt

true , is fibreglass , or even riveting a piece of tin round it worth it for the time being and being sealed with sealant? not to sure about an mot pass with it with the tin or fibreglass etc.

cheers for the help.

No, any repairs need to be fully seam welded. Anything else will fail an mot and will no doubt be very dangerous.

Hope the course goes well and you enjoy it.

I hope that someone there will be willing to do it for a bit pocket money or even for more experience.

I don't know the extent of the damage but materials wise it won't cost a great amount, its just the labour that goes in that might kill it.

the rust isits straight through to the outside of the sill, i think the previous owner has hit something very hard as the floor is bent and really rusted all over underneath and the otherside looks fine for its age ,ill take a some more pics tomorrow, the sill underneath is rotten so going to have to replace it which ive seen replacements for 30 quid ish, are these to be welded on aswell?

sorry for the lateness!

How long have you had the car?

Yep everything must be fully welded I'm afraid

ive had the car since april, its a 1999 fiesta zetec 1.25 97,000 miles ex learner car paid £350 for it , its been abused lol , ive always liked these cars and wanted one for ages, more work of love really. like spending hours on these things for results , never tackled rust tho and this is the worst ive seen!

The rusty floor pan is a good place to start for welding on cars, the sills and other structural bits not so much.

If you could use it for other jobs then investing in a welding machine might not be so bad really. If you do, get plenty of scraps and do plenty of practice welds.
