Focus 1.8Tdci 2003 Rough Or No Idle After Starting

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps,

New member here with two focus's in the house and my wifes has an annoying problem.

Basically it will start first time but unless you give it a lot of throttle it wont stay running for a minute or so. After that it runs perfectly. No fault codes present either. So far I have,

1. Changed the glow plugs

2. Changed Cylinder head temp sensor

3. Sworn a lot

Has anyone else had this problem and can shed some light on it before I rip anything else apart?

Also, as other cars I have worked on have had coolant temp sensors rather than head temp sensors, does the Focus head sensor live in the coolant flow or is it meant to be in a dry housing? I was expecting a flood of coolant when I took it out but nothing. Just want to make sure there isnt a cooling system blockage.

Ta

Russ
