Hi everyone!

My first Ford was a dark blue 1962 Anglia 105e. It had a 997cc engine and I thought it was the bee's knees.

In those days, petrol was 4 shillings and seven pence per gallon - that's 23p per gallon or 5p per litre in today's money. Happy days, eh?

As far as tyres were concerned, as long as it was black, round and 'up' it was fit for purpose. There was acres of space in the engine bay and all auxiliary components could be accessed in the blink of an eye.

Changing a set of spark plugs was 5 minutes work and you coulld change a fan belt even quicker than that. You try replacing the auxiliary drive belt on a modern Fiesta in under 5 minutes. Or try using your girlfriend's tights instead of a fan belt as a get-you-home measure then replacing the tights with a proper belt when you're home!

Anyway, I know very little about what makes modern cars go. CATs, DPFs, DMFs and everything else that has letters instead of a real name go right over my head.

But if you want to know anything about Anglias, I'm your man.

Hi welcome :)
