My Stop/start Has Stopped

Featured Replies

New 13 reg Titanium, 3800 miles, love the car, 57 mpg average, adore the sweet Ecoboost 100ps engine. But suddenly, this week, the start/ stop has stopped working. I'm not unduly worried as it's booked in on Monday, but anyone else had this?

Mine stopped for a few days.

Then it started working again.

I havent had the problem since.

How long has it stopped working?

Hi not sure but will it stop working if you do short trips town lots of stop start to put some power into battery then may turn back on?

Start/stop stopped working 5 days ago.

And hey, while I'm here I've also had the audio's 'next' buttons freeze up on me so I can'd change radio stations or tracks on the CD. Not with the steering wheel or using the IP controls. Strange then that the remote volume control works ok. After a turn-on and off a few times it starts working again.

Thanks dah, but I too thought of that. So I got the engine nicely warm, turned off the a/c and heated screens, kept the doors shut, made sure the s/s wasn't switched off and so on, but no ... the engine ticked happily away.

Stop/Start , works when all conditions are right , battery has to be fully charged, engine temperature , things like AC turned on will also stop it from working , car interior fan speed etc etc.

Mine has only ever worked once , my general useage are small trips to work and i can never get my battery up to peak condition.

You will find when you take the car in they will tell you it's down to your battery being low.

** i have corrected your title for you.

Perfect answer!

I also noticed that. Even if AC is off, fan speed can cause engine not to turn off.

Also keeping the temp below 20 will stop it coming on.

Good news is my stop/ start has started working again after a blast on the M25 last night, so the theory that it's a battery level problem holds good. Thing is though that my 7 month old 100ps has averaged 57 mpg, proving beyond doubt that I'm no town driver (which I'm not). So is Ford's SS only good for 6 months, then you must blast round the M25? That's defeating the object in the same way as diesel particular filters need blasting.

The most likely place your going to get any benefit for SS is going to be heavy traffic and town driving , problem is unless the battery stays in peak condition along with all the other variables, it's never going to be effective is saving money. so SS is pointless in what it claims to save you , add that to the constant re-starting ware on the components.

I'm glad mine does not work because i would simply turn it off anyway.!
