Alloys

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Im new to the forum but have kept an eye on it since i bought my fiesta a year ago.

I was just looking at buying another set of alloys and painting them white, i want the 09 titanium

15 spoke 16" ones.

Does anyone know where i could get a set or are selling a set that wont cost me stupid amounts of

money?

Regards

David

Ebay is your best bet mate. Original alloys usually mean a premium price. People will only pay what they are worth, so worth sending a few messages to ebay sellers, and make a few offers !!!

Some of the ones i found on ebay are actually more than from for themselves,

but they are wanting £400+ for a decent set.

I dont want any tires but they all come with them so maybe i could get a few quid off because of that.

For that kind of money you could have a set of new aftermarket 16'' wheels with brand new tyres. But like I said, ppl like original wheels, and because of that, they come with a premium.

Just a word of warning if you mean the mk7 alloys.

They are prone to buckling easily as the alloy is too soft.

If I was picking up some new alloys they'd be the last I would choose.

I thought it was only the 17" Street pack alloys that had this problem, not all MK7 alloys.

I have the 17"s Street pack (Spanner looking) alloys, for about 15 months now, none have buckled or bent, I believe they strengthened the alloys in mid 2012 before seizing production of them altogether (for the 7.5)

The 16" ones I had on my Fiesta Titanium were always known for buckling.

My Grandad has the same wheels and his have buckled.

EDIT:

I bought second hand 7 spoke mk7 alloys and found out all 4 were buckled. Ive had them fixed and live in constant fear of redamaging them becuase I have heard endless stories about how soft they are. Look good but living on the edge

These are the ones I have,

Ahh, I thought it was only my style of alloys that where prone to buckling, I guess not.

If mine buckle I will fight for a new set of Alloys, I can not believe in this day and age that they don't make brand new car alloys strong enough not to buckle, and if they dare to blame me I will take it to court.

I have done it before with Ford for the KA, the head unit was messing up, I took it in, and they blamed me!! I was shouting, making a fuss, saying that the !Removed! car is only 6 months old and asked for the manager, talked to the manager in his office and got a replacement head unit.

If you shout loud enough, you get stuff. Don't let these massive company's bend you over.

Talking to a guy in work who knows cars and he said that alloys are prone to buckling if there isn't enough tire on them?

Maybe this could be where ford messed up cos my tires are only 45's.

Its a combination of soft alloy and not enough rubber.

The MK7.5 has 50 profile tyres on the 16" and I would hope a stronger alloy

So ford messed up on 2 counts when they did them.

Does anyone know the dimensions and offset for the top style of wheels. I need to know what to look for when buying new alloys
