Tax... Why Why Why!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Currently waiting for my new Fiesta to arrive in the country, and yesterday I received my Tax disc in the post...

I wasn't sure if this was right in the first place because my previous two new cars have had their tax sent straight to the dealership.

Anyway, that's not the problem. The problem is they have taxed it on the last day of September, so it expires on the 30th September 2014, which means by the time I get the car i'm looking at about 11 months tax remaining meaning i'll have to buy tax a month earlier!

It hasn't saved them any money so I don't understand why they've done it.

Am I missing something?

They shouldn't have even taxed it yet:

Hmm, the expected pick up date is the 15th October, so the 14 days thing does make sense..

Spoke to the sales guy a few minutes ago, he said that the tax has been done right at the end of September to make sure that all price increases are covered, and said something about discounts etc...

Don't really know what to make of that, but I don't care as he said he would compensate me with petrol.

At least you are getting something out of it, I can only assume the car has been registered before it has even entered the country then, which is not normally the done thing.

Obviously to do with the discounts....

Yes, it's been registered and taxed and it's due to the country on the 12th. guess the sales guy is trying to speed stuff up which is good

No hes put it through last month to get numbers up to get bonus, if there quite and units low for that month there push like mad to get them through. have you not seen when a dealer sells delivery millage cars pre registered and in the garage name for thousands of pounds discount and not wondered why, thats to hit sales figures with the manufacturer to get dealership bonus.

Haha! It's an ST2 so got mats anyway, but definitely not gonna settle for anything less than a full tank haha
