Fitting Later Model Mk3 Seats To Early Models

Featured Replies

If anyone is interested in renewing their old tatty Mk3 seats with newer versions, it is perfectly possible although the later Mk3 models (1994 onward) have different mountings on the front seats. It is no more complicated than removing the base of the front seat (two plastic screws underneath the front of the seat squab) and you have access to the four nuts holding the mounting and slider mechanism. Simply unbolt the mountings from your old seats and fit them to the 'new' seats and they will go straight in. The rear seats require no modification and are a straight swap. The later model seats tend to be darker colours but they don't look grubby as a result. I completely renewed my interior from a late model Mk3 and it has made a big difference.
