Hi, I have a 2001 1.6 zetec on 144000 miles, serviced regularly, runs nice, very smooth drive.

What kind of MPG can I expect, given that both myself and the boss lady drive sensibly, are not heavy footed, and don't rev the nuts of the car. I know there are many variables, I am just after a rough average given the age and mileage on the car.

Only asking as never owned a Focus before, and our last car was a pug 306 hdi turbo diesel, giving 650 miles to a full tank, about 81 quid to fill.

you wont get close to that around 400 miles to a tank which is about 55 litres mpg anywhere from 35mpg upwards

Age of the car, petrol and the size of the engine, I think you would be pushing yourself hard to get 400 miles. I recon 350 would be the best you could hope for without being overtaken by a slug, or a granny driver without her specs or booster seat!

I would guess around 350 ish too maybe a little more. My old 1.8 zetec used to do anywhere between 280 and 340. I think the best I ever had was 343 on a decent run.
