Dab Or Not?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys and Gals,

I recently bought a Fiesta 1.5 TDCi (Titanium) and am confused B) ! It appears that the stereo is a DAB but when I play with it I am told "no reception". It brings up "DAB1" and "DAB2" but does not find anything.

I am assuming that I do not have a DAB aerial connected. Is it possible to get this working? I cannot stand the FM radio channels available and would like to listen to Absolute radio.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank-you.

Hi Lisa, welcome to the club. You can try checking on the Ford Etis website if your car should have a DAB stereo.

First off enter your reg or VIN into the Ford Etis website here:

http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do

The search should bring up your car details. On the right hand side under minor features click on the link to expand the list. Then scroll right down to the bottom & the car stereo details are near the bottom of the list. If you have the standard Ford stereo with DAB it should say something like 'ICE-Mid Aud(1C) With Cnectv + DAB' or for the Sony stereo it says 'ICE-Mid Audio Branded + DAB'. If it says the car has DAB then it should work OK, as far as I know it works through the standard aerial though I could be wrong. If it is not working I would take the car into Ford to have a look at.

Must agree with you on Absolute radio :) Much better than the local FM stations that play the same crappy pop songs 3 or 4 times a day

I know you can get a dab antenna and connections, google it and you will find some id surgest car audio first they are pretty good but it can be done doesnt take a lot,

A new cable possible just an adapter and new Ariel should be job done, although im not sure if ford need to activate it?? If someone else knows about that, i know i have to get my rear speakers activated from ford as they didnt want to work

Hello Lisa,

Your Titanium will have a DAB radio - all UK Titaniums do. I had you problem when I took possession of my Titty. The radio has to be tuned in press scan and wait and wait and wait it will work eventually but takes ages. The signal frequently drops out - FM is much better.
