Focus Zetec S Sat Nav (Fords Own)

Featured Replies

Has anyone got installed the Ford branded sat nav system in there new model focus. IM looking to buy the new model with all the gadgets I can but not sure what the sat nav is like compared to the stand alone models from garmin and tom tom.

Any advice or views would be great

Pete

Quick and easy answer to this is that no built in nav can compare to a dedicated tomtom. They may gain signal slightly faster with a bigger antenna but as far as features go a tomtom is good bang for your buck. Updates on built in units are also expensive and very limited. It's really a compromise to what do you really want? Built in unit is easier and less hassle while a tomtom has far better options finding locations and addresses that aren't 100% accurate. My built in ford nav lets me down every so often with finding post codes and going by roads and so on is difficult so I still have my tomtom in the glove box. If you're using a sat nav very often like every day get a tomtom. If not go for the built in ford unit.
