Mike77
Thought you was getting rid of the car soon ??? Lowering will improve the looks and lower the centre of gravity, so should help with handling. Spacers on the other hand in my opinion are not worth the hassle. You will need longer studs to fit these, and it will effectively weaken the rear end. I'm not saying it will break, but not worth it. D13 HPD 95
i am, but due to work putting my company car back till next year i want to finish my car off first, i may even keep it as a garage project but the plan is to sell it, doesnt mean i carnt fiddle till then :) n cheers, why would the extended hubs weaken the car? also do you know what i should use to cut into a bumper?? fitting retro fogs and need to make a slightly bigger hole in the vents
Mike77
Not weaken the car as such mate,,, meant more stress on the wheel studs,,, which will have to be changed to extended ones to accommodate the spacers. And the only thing I can think of to cut with is a dremel and a steady hand lol.
Philf1
Not saying don't do it but if you are thinking of selling you will reduce your potential market if you lower your car as some folks just wont go near it.
D13 HPD 95
Ok thanks :) how do you change the bolts/studs?? And can you put them on the front ?? Or would that be a bad idea?? Haha thx lol ill give a Stanley a go and a file lol think ill go round it in pen first make a template and tape it on then slowly cut 1mm at a time lol could see me loosing half my bumper lol haha
D13 HPD 95
so is putting hubcentric spacers on a good idea or not?? i have found some on eBay which are 20mm rears and 10mm fronts, they either replace the old studs with longer ones and you put the spacers on with the wheels or you can get ones which use the existing studs and have thier own built in if you get me?? i have attached the links for you http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370618694453?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_635wt_904 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251361867965?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_158wt_1141 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300952193290?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_708wt_904 what do you think?? D13 HPD 95
anyone got any pics of there fiestas with wheel spacers?? looking before i buy :) also cars lowered by 30mm cheers
Jake90087
I say that hub cenric rings won't do a lot. They're designed to make wheels more stable at high speeds and since you're running stock wheels (I believe) it won't make a difference. But basically they take the weight of the car off of the wheel nuts specifically and move it onto the hub, hence high speed stability improvements. D13 HPD 95
Running aftermarket momos, im planning to go 30mm lower and space them out?? But how do you change the stud length??
Jake90087
Usually your standard bolts go through the spacers, and then the spacer bolts through the wheels.
D13 HPD 95
Yh on some they do, but there are some which require you to change the length of the bolts??
