2006 Fiesta 1.4 Tdci Zetec ~ Random Problems Starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

Yet another problem is occurring with my "nothing but trouble from the start" Fiesta. Its the TDCI 1.4 Zetec mark 5 on a 56 plate.

Its now developed a random issue when starting. Sometimes it will start - sometimes it wont. When it fails to start it sounds for a couple of seconds like its going to go and then just cuts out. It has done it twice today and each time it started on about the 4th or 5th attempt.

Very annoying as whilst its intermittent it seems pointless calling the AA!

Could this be a symptom of the starter motor going? It had a new alternator about 10 months ago but is one the same battery since then with no issues relating to it starting.

It did also play up at the weekend with the immobiliser light flashing like mad and the car would not start, but went eventually, not sure if that could be linked or not but immobiliser illuminated and gone out fine since the blip at the weekend.

This car has been a money pit and almost at the end of my patience with it, but having spent about £600 in repairs in the last 10 months I don't want to give in too easy!

Any advice would be appreciated.
