Engine Code / Swap Help Required

Featured Replies

I've got an '07 1800 petrol Ghia, nice car but the previous owners were unaware that engines need oil to function  and now the bottom end knocks a touch. I thought about rebuiling the bottom end but Autodata doesn't give any torque settings, only a note to say leave it well alone!

Next option was another engine but I'm not sure exactly what to look for. Mine has a QQDB code but do i need the same code, or will any Focus / Cmax Duratec do? Apparently a Mondeo one won't go but no one really seems to know why!

Any help would be fantastic :)

easiest method is to replace like for like most mondeo engines wont work as they are ti vct units not standard petrols any 1.8 engine will fit from the zetec e cars

Zetec? This has a chain drive Duratec in it. Speaking to our friendly parts people a couple of days ago he plugged the reg in and the engine part no. That came up was '07-'10 Cmax and Focus and not just '05 on Focus. It's the 125 not the 120 and some things like the timing were tweaked. So while I reckon I could fit any Focus Duratec potentially it might not run 100% or there could be emissions issues. I'm thinking it might be rebuild time tho a short motor wasn't as expensive as I thought and that was retail, I'm now waiting to hear the trade price.
