Knocking Noise From Engine

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 Ford fiesta and its done about 65000 miles. I've noticed over the last few months that there's a knocking noise coming from the engine.

This noise only seems to happen when I go over a bump or drive on a particularly unstable road (which seems to be everywhere now!).

I've been told my bushes need doing, but nobody seems to have really figured out what the noise is. It sounds very similiar to knocking on metal, but as it only occurs whilst I'm driving (stationary this sound never occurs) I cannot get a clip.

Does anyone have any idea? I realise its a bit broad..

    Sounds like it is something (like the bushes) to do with the front suspension rather than the engine itself.

    I would have thought any mechanic should be able to work out the problem.

    Someone from my local dealership came out for a drive so they could hear the knocking noise I had. A good mechanic can get a feel for the type of sound and where to start looking under the car.
