Coil Springs

Featured Replies

anyone know where you can buy the springs as fitted to the zetecs as I have titanium model and father in law has the zetec and his handles a lot better than mine so was hoping to change the springs as been told zetec springs are stiffer and 15 mm lower.

I have focus zetec sport springs spare .1.6 tdci .

I have coilover now.

Also I have 40mm lowering springs spare

mines a 2.0 litre tdci so don't know if yours would be ok as cant get no real answers on zetec springs.

The lowering springs are. They fit all mk2 focus

any diesel zetec springs will be fine on the diesel they are all the same springs different shocks

There ya go then.

the springs are all the same the shocks have different spring rates to cope with heavier or lighter engines thew 1.6 petrol 1.8 and 2.0 zetec springs are the same the diesel 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 springs are all the same you just cant put petrol springs on a diesel well you could but its not advisable

so you saying the zetec springs are different to what would be on my titanium?

There ya go then.

how much would you want for them?

zetecs have what ford call a handling or sports suspension stiffer springs that sit lower than the standard ones so yes they are different

I thought it was only the zetec S that had stiffer lower springs and zetec + titanium had the same

All zetecs since the first focus have the sports or handling suspension ford etis will tell you whats on it

Etis says my zetec s has handling suspension, however I have noticed that some zetec s' look lower than mine so wonder if there is another type maybe listed as sports suspension that lowers it another 20-40mm as standard.

Etis lies, i don't trust it. I don't think all Zetec and ZS have the same suspension. My ZS looks much lower than Zetec models plus i've driven a few rented zetec models, including econetics zetec on some very uneven road surface in guildford. My ZS seems to bounce around alot while other models were definitely softer and smoother

just had a look in my Haynes manual which is for the diesel focus only and under suspension and steering it gives you the settings for tracking, camber etc..it gives one lot for standard suspension and another for sports suspension so if you were to take your car in to have tracking done surely the garage would know what suspension was fitted to your car and know if there was a difference between models?

According to my aligners the only difference is the camber/caster settings which is not adjustable as standard anyway.

Im not sure how much they are worth tbh. Anyone know. I just want to get rid. Taking up space. Give me a fair price

don't know what they are worth to be honest as used?

Zetec suspension sits 15mm lower they dont bounce thats for sure they are stiff and you know it on bad roads if etis says handling suspension it likely has the stiffer springs and yes all zetec trims came with the sports suspension and it was unique to the zetec and sport models and its main feature that some went for the buyer could opt for standard suspension which many fleet buyers and hire companies did

I have just been searching the net and looking for coil springs and have used the reg number of father in laws zetec and it shows the same springs as mine does yet etis says mine has standard rear suspension and standard front where as his says standard rear suspension and handling suspension.does this mean zetecs have standard rear springs and just uprated front ones?also why are companys not showing a difference between models for the springs?

  • Author

I wonder if anyone on here has access to part numbers on etis and has a look to see if there is different part numbers for zetec springs compared to other ones, many thanks
