Focus 2003 Window Motor Removal

Featured Replies

Hi this is my first post and i am a Focus newb.

I have a problem with my drivers side electric window. I know that this is a common problem and i have tried all the recommended fixes, such as tapping the motor with a mallet to free up the mechanism. All to no avail.I press the switch and nothing happens ,no window movement. Now to the questions

1/ if the motor is jammed should i not hear the motor straining to move ?

2/ If the motor is bust can i replace it without taking out the window and guides ?

3/ Are there any other reasons why the window will not work ?

BTW i have al;ready tried a new switch and as i said i have bashed the motor to see if it will free it self assuming it's jammed.I don't really want to take things apart until i have some idea of what's going on .

Thanks for reading and i appreciate any help.
