A Few Pre Mot Questions

Featured Replies

It's coming up to that time of year n the car will soon be going in for its second MOT of my ownership

Last year it sailed through with no advisories even with fly eye film fitted to the headlights n cree fog n reverse lights

I'm aware some MOT regulations have changed since then though

My few questions are as follows

As most of you know the fly eye has been removed from the headlights and I now have these aftermarket headlights fitted

http://www.carparts-tuning.co.uk/en/Promotion-sale-items/Lighting-Promotion/Headlight-Promotion/Headlight-Angel-Eyes-Set-suitable-for-Ford-Focus-yr-05-black-RHD-LHD.html?sid=64dd3b53d9d6121bd9c5b85893189e38&listtype=search&searchparam=ford%20focus&belboon=031b3908984b0325730046ec,3646180,subid=skim2061X563692X4d76a6cfd18c3b6618a5024163491d3e

Am I ok with these headlights fitted for MOT as long as they are correctly aligned?

Still on headlights, I currently have osram cool blue hyper h7's. Yes these are not e marked, but I think I'm correct in thinking the MOT tester bloke cant actually remove the bulbs to check for e marks?

And I also believe that you are ok as long as the light emitted from the front lights is yellowy/white and as long as no bluey light is emitted.

Although the cool blue hypers have a very thick blue tint to em to filter out the yellow, there is no blue light to them emitted at all and they do just emit a clean white light. Will they be ok for MOT or should I change em anyway?

Next question is like many forum members, I have cree reverse lights and a red cree fog bulb. Last year they sailed through MOT no problems, will they still be ok for this year?

Last question, I still have fly eye film fitted to the front and rear fog/reverse lights. Plenty light still passes through though. Will this still be ok?

Replies appreciated

I believe you will be fine.

My cree rear bulbs passed MOT this year with no problems.

All fine flyeye on the fronts isnt a great idea but other tgan that youll be fine

So i should definitely be ok with my new headlights fitted with osram cool blue hypers?

And i didnt think that front fogs are tested as part of MOT so being fly eyed shouldnt matter should it?

Just got the car back from servicing and mot'ing.

Sailed through with no advisories.

Had oil, air and cabin filters changed. Spark plugs changed and oil changed.

By looks of it also had the rear drop links changed

Going going Charlie!

Great news, always nice to get through an MOT!
