Engine Malfunction Help!

Featured Replies

Please can someone help. I've had a focus 1.6 tdi since July. It had no door handle when I first viewed it. The garage didn't know why?! After a month the key less entry didn't work. If I used the manual key to get in and tried to press the power button then the alarm would go off and the indicators flashed. I took it back and they said it was fine. (After changing the door handle) This happened twice more so I took it to a different garage who again said it was fine but they said they had to rewire something in the engine??

Since they did this the engine malfunction light has been on at least 3 times in a week and the car drops into limp mode. When I turn it off it's usually fine but why should I put up with this?? The car wasn't cheap and ford don't seen to have a clue. Any ideas? The car is under warranty till February.

Did you buy it from a main dealer? Did you take it to a main dealer both times you took it in to repair? If so you should go back to the main dealer with the current fault. I dont see what they would do to the engine to fix your door lock. It is likely to be an unrelated issue and more likely one of the many diesel engine related problems that you will find on this site.

Unfortunately my knowledge of diesels is zero, but from the issues the modern diesels seem to suffer from (all makes and models) I dont think I will be wanting one too soon.

Apparently it's a blocked fuel filter. I'm kind of relieved they've finally found something even though it'll cost.

Thats good news. Relatively simple and it could have been anything. Lets hope you get to enjoy some reliable motoring from now on.
