Bp Ultimate

Featured Replies

Hi eveybody I now own my first ford. It is a 2005 focus lx TDCI diesel and if anybody could help with my question I would be very grateful I would like to know if it is ok to run it on BP Ultimate diesel without doing any harm to it. Many thanks in Advance.

Best regards Mandy.

Hi Amanda, what size engine and how many miles do you do ?

Ultimate fuel in a Focus will make no real difference to performance. The car will maybe have a bit of an extra kick, but the economy will decrease, and the power wont be that much more noticeable. Some people report that after running it tank after tank it can have an adverse affect on the car. It helps to clean the system now and then, but I wouldnt waste your money on it tank after tank.

Yes as Jeebo says it won't make a huge difference in terms of performance etc but it certainly will do no harm to it. BP wouldn't sell the stuff if it did. It will have more detergents etc and will be a bit like using a diesel injector cleaner product but it comes in the fuel. May help to reduce smoke and may help with MPG but you will have to try it to compare.

The only reason I use it is because I do so little mileage and relatively short journeys. Perhaps I`m just being paranoid waiting for egr and dpf to go faulty in a 2.0 tdci. In my previous 1.8 I did`t bother.

I would say use it now and then, if your doing that little mileage you will be wasting your money. If you want to use it, I would suggest maybe once every couple of months would be enough to give it a clean, as long as you use the good stuff (like the fuelsave) in between.

I use she'll optimax always just because I have a dpf and there's less ash build up when using it and it burns hotter so helps clear it.
