Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi all having a cobra sport exhaust fitted in two weeks time, but what would upgrading the manifold do?? Sound or performance wise??

anyone know?? n how does it work? like what does it do and what does a sport version do differently ??

also whats best to use to cut into a bumper?? cheers

There's a bit of info on there that might help you :)

As for cutting into a bumper.. the only things I could think of without buying all the specialist equipment would be a circular saw or something but do you really want to go cutting into your car with a saw?

cheers for that :) so its slightly better not worth £180 i dont think, and yh i do lol might just use a stanly knife and see what happens lol

That's okay :)

Yea I doubt it will make a huge difference but £180 isn't too bad.

Omg you're crazy o_o what's it made out of? Doubt a Stanley would work lol

Stanley knife :O

i have the non fog vented front bumper, and have found a retro kit to fit them, but i have to make a small insiction into the bumper vents to make them fit, so its either a stanley knife, a hack saw or i could chain drill them out, ie use a small 5mm bit and drill around the templete i have, when i say drill i will drill loads of little holes around the egde then i can pop it out and use a file to smooth it off, and im not sure either plastic or fibre im guessing plastic as i added parking sensors and they cut really easily :) not sure when im going to do it tho ahaa

and not sure if i will get the manifold ill get the exhaust done they see :) aha

I wouldn't dare cut my bumper haha would have to take it somewhere if I wanted it done. Depends how 'handy' you are though I suppose

im always handy lol ill give it a go and if i carnt do it ill take it to a local

Decat will not pass an MOT as there's no catalytic converter, whereas a sports cat will.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I *think* a sports cat doesn't reduce the emissions as much and adds a tiny bit more power but I am not sure.

Ok thank you, so for the sake of 200£ will the sport car add much more power ?? Or like 1-2 brake ? So not really worth it?

Yea I think it would only add like 5hp if that but again I'm really not sure.

Personally I think it's only worth it if you're upgrading the whole exhaust system

Im upgrading all the exhaust system but debating do i get the manifold to ? Would it be better to do it with the exhaust?

Yea if you're going to do it I'd do it with the rest of the exhaust system.

I have a full system with a sports cat on mine. Would you not get the manifold from cobra too?

Been looking everywhere but i carnt seem to find just a manifold with sport car which will defo fit my car -.-

  • Author

Can any one tell me what the difference is between the zetec engine and the duratec engine?

Not sure if my car is either or?? I dont know its a 1.25 style + 59plate mk7 ? So what one is it?

I have found an exhaust manifold that i want to buy but it fits the zetec engine so will it fit my 1.2duratec engine ?

Hey,

As far as I know, the Duratec engine is the engine that is in the fiesta Zetec as well.

I believe a Zetec engine is an older version, ie before 2008.

  • Author

Cheers, do you know if there is any layout difference between them i have found pages online saying they are the same so the manifold will fit both engines but others say no they are different im confused :S

Any one know??

Can anyone shine some light on this please?

Doesn't it tell you in your owners handbook? If not you could ask your local Ford dealer they will know.

Anyone have a 1.25 duratec zetec engine or less?? Not the zetec s, if so has anyone got a sport car manifold fitted and where from to get one? I can find ones for the zetec s but im sure it a zetec s doesn't fit a zetec spec of less.

Reason for asking is i have a style + 1.25 mk7 and wanting to change the manifold for a sport cat but have had no luck finding one!! :/ any help grateful
